Pen and ink illustration from Bloodbones, a Fighting Fantasy Gamebook written by Jonathan Green (Wizard Books 2006)

The fun of doing this illustration was in using different techniques to separate out the different elements: The glowing ghosts are suggested with little dots and dashes. The creaking timbers of the ship use bold, stark black and solid white areas. The ghost Captain himself is a mix of the two.  And yes, there's a little inspiration drawn from John Carpenter's The Fog in this picture!
