GIANT PREYING MANTIS

Full-colour version based on my original pen and ink illustration from Bloodbones, a Fighting Fantasy Gamebook written by Jonathan Green (Wizard Books 2006), created using Photoshop and a Wacom Graphire tablet

Quite a few changes were made to the underlying drawing for this version: Some of the BW version's black-silhouetted foliage was omitted as they had mainly been added to the BW version to boost the contrast with the white foliage coming in from the border; a lot of proportions were changed for a more realistic feel. There's a different range of visual "tricks" to establish layering and depth between colour and pen-and-ink work.
